Four wicket hauls from Nathan Baxter and Dan Chambers plus a last gasp wicket from Ethan Markland helped a depleted 2nd XI overcome Penrith at Lune Road on Saturday.
Lee Marshall and James Davies got Lancaster off to a good start before Marshall was cleaned up for a well-made 31 by a ball that kept low. James Davies followed once again to Jamie O'Brien for 23 as Penrith began to make inroads.
Dan Chambers departed for a duck but Danny Welbourne managed to get a start before he too exited the stage - chipping to cover for 18.
Lancaster's innings began to fold from then on with Nathan Baxter (20) offering resistance and contributions from Liam Davies and Ethan Markland taking Lancaster past three figures.
But 126 was not a bad total on a deteriorating pitch. Matthew Liver made the early breakthrough bowling opposition skipper Will Tyson with a delivery which kept low. Mark Osborne and Eddie Robson threatened to take the game away from the hosts - the former playing the anchor role while the latter played his shots.
But Robson's gung-ho approach failed him when Nathan Baxter entered the attack, castling the Penrith number three.
Working in tandem with Dan Chambers, the Lancaster duo made inroads into the Penrith line-up taking regular wickets. And when Chambers extracted Osborne from the crease after his 30 over stay - the momentum was with the home side.
With 9 wickets down there looked to be a final twist as Neil Atkinson and Dan Morland got the visitors within touching distance of the winning post. But 13-year-old Ethan Markland pulled off the win for Lancaster bowling Morland and sealing 15 points to take the 2nds up to fifth place in the table.
