Lancaster lose out in low scoring affair

Lancaster 2nds total of 90 proved to be too little on a sporting Lune Road pitch last Saturday. George Potter and Tom Williamson had to dig in early on, before Williamson was bowled by Sam Dyson for 5. The 2nd XI had a number of returning LRGS students in the side, however it was the experienced regulars who got into double figures, with James Davies, Michael Armstrong and Callum East offering the main resistance. Aided by 30 extras, Lancaster finally crept to 90 from 40 overs, with Mike Dugdale taking 3 for 20 from his 12 overs for Kendal.

Callum East (3-14) offered the hosts some hope with the ball, however, as opener Richardson was removed early with the score on 4. The experienced Paul Dodds and Richard Herron offered stubborn resistance at the top of the order, before Shane Hyland to move the score forward. Wickets fell at regular intervals as Matthew Liver put the cat amongst the pigeons taking 2-11. Hyland shepherded the Kendal lower order home, however, as 90 just didn't prove quite enough at the end of the day.
