Last Saturday brought a huge first win of the season with a fine fielding and bowling display seeing Lancaster home.
The visitors couldn't have got off to a worse start however, when after asking to bat, they were reduced to 0-2 with Danny Welbourne and Lewis McGinley not troubling the scorers. Andrew Fletcher's solid 62 with Steven Armstrong's 36 stopped the rot for the Lancaster innings and took them past 100, with the team finally finishing on 122 all out in the 41st over, Nathan Chambers taking 6-22 for Netherfield.
Economical opening spells from Nathan Baxter and Steven Armstrong, who capped off a fine all round performance, meant Netherfield didn't get off to a quick start. The entrance of Andrew Fletcher medium pace to the attack with Ryan Carey saw Netherfield crumble to 36-6. Proving hard work at nets pays off, the 2nds fielding was of a good standard, Lewis McGinley taking 3 crucial catches. Tommy Prime's 30 stood in Lancaster's way, before Fletch trapped him in front to end the home side's resistance. Ryan Carey wrapped up the game to finish with a maiden Northern League 5-for, as Lancaster took all the spoils.
