Danny lost the toss and the 2nds were inserted on a damp Netherfield wicket. Wellers opened up with Tom 'Twill' Williamson and made a solid opening stand of 30 against a swinging new ball partnership of Beck and Clinton. After losing Twill and the returning Billy Swarbrick, Wellers was the mainstay of the innings batting for 40 overs, making 97 off 129 balls with 16 fours and 1 six. He fell just short of a ton top edging into the covers. He was ably supported by cameos from the experienced Michael Armstrong and Will Mossop's 20. Nathan 'Nate Dog' Baxter and Phil 'Spadge' Sparrow took the total to an above par 191. Marcus Hill taking 3-52 for the hosts.
Rain at tea meant Netherfield had only 42 overs to chase; a tall order. That total looked even further away when the hosts fell to 10 for 2 and then to 50 for 5. Steven Armstong and Spadge getting the early breakthroughs before Tom Burrow and Twill entered the attack. Steven Wilson and Stephen Beck offered up a stern resistance but Twill wheeled away removing Beck and then skipper Clinton, finsihing with 3-36 from 11 overs at the Parkside Road end. Young Callum East also impressed with 2-24 getting the prize wicket of Wilson for 49 caught behind by Billy, who finished with 5 catches behind. Stretch wrapped up the tail, giving the 2s a huge boost after a very difficult season so far in the quest to leave the foot of the table.
