On losing the toss on a damp but drying pitch Chorley captain Mawdsley inserted the young Lancaster team consisting of only 10 men due to commitment and communication issues. The Sri Lankan Ranga opened with Left-Hander Tom Williamson, Ranga losing out in the first over to a catch at short leg. New Lancaster captain Welbourne preceeded to steady the ship to 30-2 in the 12th over. However soon after a collapse ensued and the team capitulated to 73-9 at the break. The score would have been lower had it not been for Mike Armstrong's gritty 25. After tea our boys bowled well creating chances with Phil Sparrow and young Steven Armstrong both beating the edge. Tom Williamson replaced Sparrow from the river end and bowled well, his Slow Left Arm taking advantage of the wearing pitch. In the end however Chorley knocked off the runs at a canter, but not without a few scares, losing 3 wickets in the process. A heavy defeat but signs of improvement in the team. Next game Blackpool away this Saturday.
