Another 12 english points for the 1sts as Blackpool fell victim to the Lancaster form rollercoaster. After an excellent start from Moff and Ben, Blackpool quickly lost both openers to sharp catches from Sparky and Matty Liver off Simmo. And after Moff added Dale Deeb to his rapidly filling collection of pros, the seasiders were tottering at 30 for 3.
A stubborn partnership between Alex Smith and Andy Furniss frustrated Lancaster, before Matty Liver's wobbly seamers forced two spoonings from Smith and Darlington. Only Furniss looked to have got used to the slow pitch making a nice unbeaten 50, and with only 5 down for 90 in a reduced overs game, the home side were looked a little ragged in the field. But Moff trapped Danson who wasn't best pleased with his decision and the visitors lost momentum towards the end of their innings. Timmy, who had been a bit rusty in his first few overs, wrapped up the tail taking 3 in 4 balls and finshing with 4 wickets.
Meccers and Jamie opened up to set about the Blackpool bowlers. After some dogged defence and exploitation of there being no third man, the hosts reached a solid 32-0 after 14 overs with a good platform to work from with the over-zealous Gleeson not finding the slow pitch to his liking. Meccers spooned young Jamie Thompson to cover after getting cramp in both his calves... age catching up with him.
Timmy and Jamie made a patient partnership to give a solid platform. Jamie aided by deep mid-wicket dropping the ball for 4, made an important 31 before falling to a spectacular one handed pluck from Furniss. Timmy shepherded the ship with an unbeaten 32, while a cameo from Sparky (10)meant the run rate was always comfortable. After losing mini and moorbs in quick succession, the calm heads of Joe Atkinson and Timmy saw the total overhauled with 3 balls to spare.
Now only 16 points behind the mid table pack, bring on the Netherfield!
